There are many interpretations of what angels look like, but a common image is that of a childlike creature wearing white clothing with a floating halo.

This is the interpretation we will work towards in this guide on drawing a cartoon angel.

We’re sure by this guide’s end, and you’ll be surprised at what you can do!

How to Draw A Cartoon Angel

Step 1

As mentioned in the introduction, the halo is a classic aspect of the popular interpretation of angels, so it makes sense that we begin with a halo.

The halo isn’t particularly complex, but it may require a steady hand. It would help if you drew a horizontal oval shape, inside which there is another near the outline.

Once this halo is drawn, let’s draw the mane for the angel.

This is drawn with curved and rounded lines to form the shape of the head as it appears in our example. Then we are ready for step 2!

Step 2

This step of our guide to drawing a cartoon angel includes refining the rest of the outline for the hair and face.

This prepares you for the finer details in the next few steps. First, we use a series of curved lines that connect to the bangs, resulting in a rounded ear.

Next, we draw the bottom part of the face. That’s all we have to do now, and then we can proceed.

Step 3

The cartoon angel drawing we are working on has a beautiful and happy facial expression, which we will draw in this step.

None of the facial features are particularly difficult, and as long as you follow the reference image closely, you’ll be able to replicate it easily!

The eyes are two simple curved lines with eyelashes sprouting from them. These will have some eyebrows above them.

Then the nose is also drawn with a curved line pointing in the opposite direction of the eyes.

Finally, draw the smiling mouth underneath and add a small chin underneath.

Step 4

The head of this angel is ready and now let’s start drawing the arms and the chest of the dress she is wearing.

The left arm is hanging and drawn with simple curved lines, culminating in a slightly flat surface at the base. Then you can add a little coat to the sleeve.

The right arm is drawn in an equally simple style but is folded across the chest. He will also end up with a little hand taking care of that fourth step.

Step 5

It’s almost time to give this angel its wings, but first, we will finish the outline of the body in this step of our how to draw a cartoon angel guide.

The dress is also designed in a simple style and has an outline that forms a slightly curved rectangular shape.

Finally, add two rounded feet under the dress, and that’s enough for this part.

Step 6

We mentioned that this angel needs wings, so let’s add them to your cartoon angel drawing in this step! Now we draw the wing on the right side.

This wing is drawn using a series of long, thin, rounded shapes to form the individual feathers.

Once this wing is drawn, we will add the next one along with all the final details in the next step.

Step 7

Your angel still needs his second wing, and we’re adding it now! This goes to the left and has individual feathers drawn as thin, rounded shapes.

Once that second wing is complete, you’re ready for the final step! You can also add a beautiful sky-blue background with some extra details to make this design even more unique.

Then it’s time for some color!

Step 8

The final step in this how-to-draw cartoon angel is adding some color to finish it nicely. Our reference image showed you how to colorize this cute design.

We used brown for the hair and a nice soft blue for the dress. Of course, we had a beautiful bright yellow for the halo.

These are the colors we would use, but be sure to use whatever colors and mediums you feel are perfect for this angel!
