How To Repair Epoxy Floor Coating?
Epoxy flooring is known for its durability, long life, and low maintenance. This is what makes it a preferred choice for many industries and applications that face heavy-duty usage of the floor. Chemsol Polymer has also manufactured and installed epoxy flooring at many locations across India.
Yet, there are times when the epoxy flooring may get damaged. This can happen due to different reasons and the extent of damage can be different. The first question that comes to everyone’s mind is, “Is epoxy flooring repairable if it’s damaged?”
The answer is a firm yes. The only thing that needs to be looked at is what is the extent of damage and depending on that, the most appropriate repair solution can be finalized.
Minor Chipping & Cracking:
This can be fixed completely by simply applying a compound to the floor to fill in the gaps. Use fresh mortar and trowel in the material until it fills the crack or chip and overflows out of the top. This is followed by smoothening of the surface by using a trowel to get rid of any excess mortar. It will ensure you patch your floor and keep any damage from getting worse over time. Generally, these repairs cure for no less than 60 days before applying a new coat of epoxy.
Major Cracking
If the cracks are bigger across the surface, it’s better to resurface the floor than just patch it. The floor is thoroughly swept and s grease-cutting detergent is used to remove any oil. Patching of chips and holes is then done with a faster-acting epoxy patching compound. This cures in a few days, so you can apply a new coat of epoxy sooner.
